It is a special place for science, 'a quiet place in the Universe', where studies can be carried out almost entirely free of interference from natural background radiation. It also provides access \u0026 support for studies of the geologically interesting deep underground environment.\n\nWe are employees of the Science and Technology Facilities Council, the UKRI research
